Operation Military Support held its second annual dinner to show support for the troops and to honor our veterans. Once again, donations from the generous residents and merchants of Calaveras County, California, made our fundraising event a great success, allowing us to continue with our efforts to send packages to members of the U. S. Military deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan and Kuwait.

About 200 people were in attendance at the dinner, held at Ironstone Vineyards in Murphys. Included as special guests were a number of local veterans, the cost of their dinners having been sponsored by local merchants. Guest speakers were Sgt. McKenna Hutchinson, U.S. Army Intelligence; Sgt. Shawn McCann, 101st Airborne; and Calaveras County Sheriff Dennis Downum. All three shared personal experiences of their service in Iraq.
