On March 12, 2004, in Murphys, California, Operation Military Support sponsored an evening with Col. Sean Metroka, a member of the U.S. Marine Corp Reserves who has just returned from deployment in Iraq. Col. Metroka put together a slide presentation entitled "Iraq Through the Eyes of a Soldier" which he has been sharing with groups throughout Northern California with the purpose of focusing on the positive aspects of the actions of the U.S. Military in Iraq. He showed photos he had taken, and talked about his experiences with Iraqi families and children, the schools, hospitals, and construction projects being developed throughout the country, and the progress which has been made during the past year, progress which is largely ignored by news media in the U.S. Operation Military Support was proud to be able to share this program with the residents of this area.
